Taking offence she criticised both the idea that she would not wish to marry him out of vanity, and that his feelings may have changed towards her because of possible werewolf contamination. Fleur in fact, took pride in his wounds as living proof of his bravery and stated she didn't care about how he looked as she was " good-looking enough for both of them. On 27 July , four days before Harry's seventeenth birthday, Fleur was part of the effort to get Harry safely to The Burrow and participated in the battle that ensued.
She participated in the battle out of loyalty to Harry, when he previously saved her sister's life in She took on the role of one of the fake Harrys, using Polyjuice Potion to take on his physical appearance. Paired with Bill, the two were to fly north on a Thestral in an effort to fool any pursuing Death Eaters. After departing, Fleur and Bill personally witnessed the death of Alastor Moody.
This happened after a dozen or more Death Eaters descended on the Order in an effort to capture Harry. Fleur and Bill were chased by half a dozen Death Eaters, but managed to escape and return to the Burrow and relay the news. Fleur was greatly upset over Moody's death and voiced the opinion that someone may have betrayed them, as the Death Eaters seemed to know the plan to escort Harry to safety.
The ceremony and reception took place in a marquee tent which " revealed rows and rows of fragile golden chairs set on either side of a long purple carpet. White and gold flowers and golden balloons were some of the many unique elements added to the occasion. Ginny and Gabrielle were both bridesmaids. Fleur wore a simple white dress and Muriel's tiara, and looked so beautiful that Bill did not look as though he had ever met Fenrir Greyback.
The celebration was overshadowed, though, by the news that the Ministry of Magic had fallen to Lord Voldemort , and the death of Rufus Scrimgeour. Death Eaters, with the full power of the Ministry behind them, broke the protective spells surrounding the Burrow and Apparated into the reception.
Fleur and Bill relocated to Shell Cottage , and spent their first Christmas there together, along with Bill's younger brother Ron , who had secretly come to stay with them after abandoning Harry and Hermione on their Horcrux hunt. She helped Hermione recover from the torture she suffered at the hands of Bellatrix Lestrange , and healed Griphook's legs with Skele-Gro. When Ollivander was well enough to be transferred to Aunt Muriel's, she asked him to take Muriel's tiara back with him as she never had a chance to return it after the wedding.
Fleur expressed concern over Harry's plans to leave Shell Cottage on his quest, telling him it was better for him to stay where it was safe. Fleur and the Order before the Battle of Hogwarts. During the tense reunion between Percy Weasley and his family, she led Harry Potter and Remus Lupin in a side conversation regarding Lupin's son, so they would not intrude. Due to her part- Veela heritage, Fleur was a breathtakingly beautiful witch, and hence caught a good deal of attention from many males.
She was tall and willowy, with an air of grace that made her seem like she was gliding when she was walking, and her very presence seemed to " emanate a faint, silvery glow ".
She had long, silvery-blonde hair that fell almost to her waist, which was also shiny, large, deep blue eyes, fair skin, and very white, even teeth.
Ron Weasley who would later become Fleur's brother-in-law usually made a fool of himself in attempts to get Fleur to kiss him on the cheek. Ginny Weasley and Hermione Granger usually remarked on this being "pathetic.
In her youth, Fleur was arrogant and conceited. Because of her beauty, she saw herself as a cut above most others. For instance, when Ron Weasley asked her to go to the Yule Ball with him, she " looked at him as though he were a sea slug. Fleur also had a very blunt nature, always speaking her mind, and therefore often came off as rude and snobbish. She once made insulting comments about the state of the Hogwarts Christmas decorations and later even about Mrs Weasley her future mother-in-law 's home.
However, despite her high opinion of herself, Fleur's softer side was warm and caring. She fretted over the safety of those she loved, and if someone she cared about was in trouble she would always try to help them. When Molly lamented over how the wedding was to be cancelled because of Bill's wounds, Fleur took offence at the implication of her being a shallow person and retorted that she loved Bill for more than his good looks, even stating that his acquired scars were — to her — proof of her husband's bravery.
This genuine demonstration of her valuing true worth over surface glitter was what made those who initially disapproved of her such as Molly and Ginny finally begin to accept her. She also was also more perceptive than she appeared to be, as she correctly suspected that Molly had hoped Bill's injuries would cause Fleur to reject him and call off the wedding, meaning she had known all along that Molly and others disliked her.
After being married in the summer of , one could see more of Fleur's positive qualities: true courage and fierce loyalty. She had never forgotten that Harry once saved her sister's life. This caused her to volunteer to escort Harry Potter from 4 Privet Drive , risking both her life and that of her fiance's. She also allowed Harry to stay at her home and even honoured his request that the goblin , Griphook , be allowed to stay as well. While she played host to Harry, Hermione, Ron, and the others at her home, Harry noticed Fleur had become a lot more like her mother-in-law, Molly Weasley, as she displayed traits such as, worrying and fussing in a maternal fashion over him and his friends.
Fleur was a talented and able witch , which was shown by her selection as the Beauxbatons Champion by the Goblet of Fire. Though circumstances in the Tournament conspired against her, and she was unable to fully showcase her talents. Gabrielle Delacour , her little sister. Fleur seemed to have a pleasant relationship with her parents when they arrived at the Burrow for her wedding with Bill; her half-Veela mother, Apolline , proved to be very helpful and had a knack for household spells, and her father was a jovial man who seemed to find everything at the Burrow charming.
After the Second Wizarding War , they had three grandchildren through Fleur. Fleur had a very close relationship with her sister, Gabrielle. During the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament , Gabrielle was taken into the lake as the thing Fleur would sorely miss.
After Harry Potter appeared to have saved Gabrielle's life by risking a high score to rescue her from the lake, Fleur warmed to him quite a bit, and took to kissing his cheeks when she saw him. Gabrielle also developed a crush on Harry.
At her wedding, Fleur made Gabrielle one of her bridesmaids, along with Ginny Weasley Much to Ginny's dislike, as at the time she did not much like Fleur and had taken to calling her phlegm behind her back.
Bill Weasley , her husband and father of her children. She was attracted to him from the start, eyeing him with visible interest from across the room while in the company of her parents. Bill had taken a desk job at the bank so that he could assist the Order of the Phoenix , and the two meet and began dating immediately.
They had been dating for a year when Bill asked Fleur to marry him, and she accepted. Like all his siblings, he was home educated in reading, writing, and simple maths by his mother. The Weasley family was not wealthy compared to other wizarding families. Many other pure-blood families, particularly the Malfoys , disdained them for their " blood traitor ", pro-muggle beliefs and their lack of wealth. It can be assumed that Bill had a fairly happy childhood, as all the Weasley siblings did.
Sorted into Gryffindor House , Bill quickly proved himself an academically strong and popular student. His best subject was Defence Against the Dark Arts. At some point, either shortly before or just after he began attending school, an older student by the name of Jacob was expelled for endangering the school in his search of the fabled Cursed Vaults , which was announced in the Daily Prophet and swiftly became the talk of the Weasley household , which made Bill sympathise with the hardships of their younger sibling, who began attending school in his third year and were met with much whispering of Jacob's plight.
During the same school year, Bill learned that Jacob's sibling had been involved in their own search for the Cursed Vaults , leading to them entering a locked room on the fifth floor along with some fellow first-years containing cursed ice , which, as word spread quickly at Hogwarts, soon became common knowledge among the students. Bill practising duelling in the castle's courtyard. By his fourth year, Bill had become very popular among the other students and was regarded by many, including Rowan Khanna , as one of the bravest and most gifted students of his year.
Usually found practising defensive spells in the Training Grounds , he was approached by Jacob's sibling, who asked him for help investigating the Cursed Vaults. To this, Bill heartily agreed, voicing the opinion that the cursed ice that had begun to spread throughout the school because someone had been meddling with one or more of said vaults, after all, were posing a threat to the entire school and he would gladly do whatever he could to help resolve the dire situation, expressing excitement at the prospect of his first "curse-breaking adventure".
In preparation for entering the vault, Bill taught Jacob's sibling the Fire-Making Spell , practised duelling and studied all known information about the vaults, including reviewing the old articles concerning Jacob and his expulsion.
After these things were taken care of, Bill met up with the younger student to enter the vault, insisted that he was excited to finally have an opportunity to act as a Curse-Breaker as opposed to merely talking about becoming one.
Once they entered the ice-covered outer hall leading into the vault itself, Bill marvelled at the complexity of magic required to build such a place. Finding their path blocked by massive blocks of cursed ice reaching all the way up to the high, arching ceiling.
The pair had to get past these obstacles, which Jacob's sibling speculated might be additional defences put in place to prevent people from reaching the vault, by working together to melt them down with flames from their wands. Once they reached the door, however, Bill, mindful of the details he had received of what happened to Rowan, insisted they would have to " attack the door before it had a chance to attack them ". Trying to force their way through the door the same way they had done to break through the cursed ice, Bill was caught off guard when it countered the flames and shot a jet of icy light at him without warning, encasing him in a block of cursed ice and restraining his arms and feet.
Jacob's sibling was concerned that they might accidentally hurt Bill if they tried to melt the ice surrounding him. First meaning to run for help, the aforementioned individual finally made their best effort to carefully cast the Fire-Making Spell on the ice, freeing him.
Bill informed them of how, while he had suffered no physical injury, it felt as if the cursed ice had somehow drained him of energy, and Jacob's sibling agreed it would be best to leave. Although he spent some time recovering from his injuries at the Hospital Wing , Bill was quick to dismiss the concerns of Jacob's sibling, telling them how he had never felt as alive before as when the two had tried to break into the vault, eager to give it another try, though wisely suggesting they brought some more people into their second attempt, to which Jacob's sibling voiced their intention of enlisting the aid of Rowan, Ben Copper and Penny Haywood , all of whom Bill urged his fellow pupil to arm with the knowledge and skills necessary to use the Fire-Making Spell as well, and Jacob's sibling also got the idea of helping Ben make some Burn-Healing Paste , prompting Jacob's sibling to take the nervously inclined Gryffindor in the Potions Classroom.
Professor McGonagall got furious at Bill for teaching the Charm, and he thought he would not be appointed Prefect later. In the — school year , Bill became a Prefect , [24] and helped Jacob's sibling , who was helping Rubeus Hagrid , find Fang in the Hogwarts Library.
In the — school year , his seventh year , Bill was made Head Boy. When his pen-friend wanted him to go on an exchange trip, Bill had to decline because his parents could not afford it. His pen-friend, though, was offended and sent him a cursed hat that made his ears shrivel up. At some time prior to his graduation, Bill was given a "Medal of Magical Merit". After graduating from Hogwarts, Bill ultimately managed to live up to his life-long aspirations of joining the Gringotts Wizarding Bank.
Having successfully found an opening for Curse-Breakers , applied and been accepted, Bill threw himself into his work, pouring all of his energies into his curse-breaking missions not to think too much about the betrayal of Patricia Rakepick at the end of his final term at school.
Frequently concerned about the well-being of his friends back at school, not to mention that of his younger brothers Charlie , Percy , Fred and George , who were all attending Hogwarts at the time, he eventually contacted Albus Dumbledore expressing his concern of the news he had received telling him about the apparent ineffectiveness of Rakepick's successor as Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor, and asked if he might be granted permission to visit the school whenever he had down time in between his missions in order to offer supplementary evening classes on the subject in order to help pupils learn how to defend themselves should Rakepick or other members of R to breach the security of the castle once more.
Wholeheartedly agreeing, not only did the Hogwarts Headmaster permit him to visit the school on a regular basis throughout the — school year and — school year , he even gave him free access to Classroom 3C after regular classes were done for the day.
Around December of , Bill was sent to an assignment on some tombs in Egypt , [31] during which he encountered a Mummy that he successfully defeated by blasting it to dust; a story he later told his younger brother Charlie. Afterwards, he Charlie , Merula Snyde and another student left for England with their father's Flying Ford Anglia , and arrived just in time to celebrate Christmas Eve at the Weasley household. During the — school year , Bill was tasked to retrieve Urgruff's egg from the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary.
He divulged this information to Jacob's sibling and several of their friends, who immediately wanted to go with him. They went together using a Portkey , battled a Hungarian Horntail and found the egg. They managed to retrieve a chest of treasures from a Sphinx in the Red Cap's Hole. By 1 September , , however, Bill had gone from travelling back and forth between Great Britain and foreign countries for his various missions to being stationed permanently in Egypt.
The Weasley family in Egypt. During the summer of , the whole Weasley family went to Egypt on holiday after his father won seven-hundred galleons in the annual Daily Prophet Grand Prize Galleon Draw. Bill took his family on a tour of the Egyptian tombs while they were there. In the summer of , Bill returned to the Burrow to attend the Quidditch World Cup with his family.
During his stay, he met his youngest brother Ron's best friend, Harry Potter , for the first time. During the skirmish, Bill was injured with a deep cut on his arm. In , Bill took more time off work to travel to Hogwarts with his mother to support Harry during the Third Task of the Triwizard Tournament. It was during this time that he met Fleur Delacour , who was attracted to him from the start.
Bill joined the Order of the Phoenix and applied for a desk job in England , so he could help the Order more effectively. Although he missed the tombs, he did have one compensation — Fleur Delacour had taken a part-time job at Gringotts to improve her English, and the two began dating. With the Wizarding World at large aware of Lord Voldemort's return in the wake of the Battle of the Department of Mysteries , Bill asked Fleur to marry him after they had been dating for a year.
In the summer of , she stayed at the Burrow for several weeks to get to know Bill's family. However, her blunt nature rubbed Mrs Weasley and Ginny the wrong way, and they thought Bill could do better than her. Ron thought she was doing this so that Bill would fall for Tonks instead, and Ginny stated that she would "much rather have Tonks in the family". Lovely Fleur, one of Harry's competitors from the Tri-Wizard Tournament all the way back in Book 4, is back here, all grown up. She doesn't play a very big role in this book, but we can see her dramatic change from a rather selfish and arrogant young lady as a Beauxbatons schoolgirl, to a mature, spirited woman.
People have a tendency of making up nicknames for others. Sometimes these nicknames are nice and friendly. Other times not so much. Fleur Delacour was a beautiful and fascinating character, but that didn't make her exempt from this. During her stay at the Weasley house, Fleur didn't do the best job of ingratiating herself with the family.
Well, with the women of the family, that is. So Ginny came up with a little nickname for the young woman; 'Phlegm. And this fact didn't change, despite the events that transpired during the Battle of the Astronomy Tower as the fight at the end of the novel came to be known. During this fight, Bill was grievously wounded by Fenrir, the werewolf. There was a concern that he too, would become a werewolf he didn't — though he did grow rather fond of raw meat.
Weasley assumed that Fleur would leave Bill as a result. And she was wrong. Fleur proved that she was willing to stay by Bill no matter what — and that she loved him for more than his looks. This is not the first or the last time that Fleur has proven how extremely loyal she is to those she deems worthy. Fleur's earlier appearances in the novels make it seem like Fleur's beauty is a standout feature — making her a flower among thorns. But later, it becomes more and more clear that when she is happy — well and truly happy — her beauty is shared amongst all those she treasures.
During her wedding, Harry noticed that everyone around her looked better. Even Bill, with his scarred up face, suddenly began to look amazing. And we have no doubt that this had to do with Fleur's emotional state. It would seem that the Veela trait has the ability to put that beauty outward more than one would expect.
It seemed like time and time again, Fleur stepped up to be the caretaker to the injured and scared.
