Which sly cooper game is the best

Before so much as a start menu appears, we see the titular roguish raccoon, traipsing along the moonlit rooftops of cartoon-noir Paris. By the time I was nine, I had a surprising amount of games under my small belt. I had bested a few Final Fantasys, retrieved the master sword once or twice, gotten pretty decent at Goldeneye , and had even rescued Princess Peach a half a dozen times or so.

But by far the type of game that was most played in my household was the mascot platformer. As the oldest of three siblings, I certainly asserted myself in order to get the most amount of screen time, but naturally had to compromise with the younger kids regarding what games we got.

More often than not, the family-friendly, 3D mascot platformer—perfect for all ages! However, there always felt to be this massive emotional divide between these platformers my sisters and I enjoyed, and the RPGs and action-adventure games I snuck away extra hours with at night. I ultimately wrote off platformers as just meaningless fun and collecting—until I played Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus , that is.

The elements of sexism are also hard to overlook, when we consider that Carmelita the hardened detective has been reduced to eye-candy having to constantly be rescued. The game also introduces the option to purchase abilities and items to further enhance the gameplay experience. Lauded for its story, Sly 2: Band of Thieves also introduces a slew of new characters including Constable Neyla.

With the ability to play as Murray and Bentley using their unique talents to get through trickier bits, this adds a deeper element to the gameplay. The previously linear levels have been revamped, giving the game a more open world feel. The controls have also been tweaked to feel more natural, a plus when playing as the other characters.

Each level is structured as a heist which adds to the stories appeal and we become invested in the characters as the story progresses. The world is so beautifully designed that one can be forgiven for exploring it just for the sake of seeing as much of it as possible. The heli, tank and turret sections have been criticized for distracting from the more fun aspects of the game. Level 3 is also a part of the game that many fans could do without. Overall, the game delivers on everything that made the original so much fun to play.

The story is also considered one of the best in the series, if not the genre. Would definitely recommend a play through for fans of the genre and newcomers alike. The third instalment in the Sly franchise breaks away from the tried and tested formula that made the previous game so successful.

Sly has Stealth charm and Atmosphere felt really Enjoyable. Sly 3 was when the series started going downhill, too many playable characters with little to no usage outside story. Sly 4 by far worst, felt too Repetitive and Ridiculous over excessive Sixaxis controller Annoyed the Hell out of me. I Platinum all 4 Sly games btw. PSN Qornut. User Info: RioichiCooper. I just have a command of thoroughly useless information. More playable characters and gameplays mechanics kept getting introduced and you could easily see that as expansion and improvement, but to me it just waters down the good stuff.

Although it's worth saying that I played these games as they came out, and at the time Sly 2 blew me away and was definitely my favourite. It wasn't until I replayed the series years later that I found Sly 1 to be the best.
